How I Work

How I Work

Often we know when something isn’t working, when something doesn’t feel right. We start to wonder whether this is normal, whether we’ll ever feel better, or if we’re doomed to repeat the same patterns. It can be confusing and scary to feel parts of ourselves take over automatically, without our permission. Despite endless thinking about it and doing the “right things,” there’s still no relief. My clients are smart and resourceful, yet still feel lost in pain they can’t make sense of.

That’s because much of what drives our daily thoughts, feelings, and behaviors hides in a more mysterious part of the mind: the unconscious. This is a normal adaptation we all have. The process of uncovering what the mind has learned to keep buried is tender, intricate work that’s best done with a guide. The language of the unconscious is not neat, rational thought, and what is stored there cannot be worked on through insight alone.

This is where experiential therapy comes in. It’s not about analyzing from a distance but about entering your experience directly, with curiosity. That means actively engaging with emotion, body sensations, imagination, and the parts of you that become activated in the moment.

This kind of deep exploration is valuable in and of itself. But if you’re wanting something to shift, we also work with your brain’s built-in capacity for change. The kind of transformation I support is grounded in the science of memory reconsolidation, which is your brain’s natural ability to revise old, deeply held emotional learnings at their roots.

All of this happens through a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens. That means I see your pain in the context of systems, not just symptoms. I honour your lived experience, reject pathologizing narratives, stay accountable to the ways power and identity show up in therapy, and hold a deep belief in your liberation.

Let’s begin.
