What is a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, and how is it different from a regular Psychotherapist in Ontario? In Ontario, a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist is a registered nurse who has completed additional training and education to become a psychotherapist. They are regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and hold a specialized designation that allows them to provide psychotherapy services independently. The key difference between a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist and a regular psychotherapist lies in their background as a registered nurse. This means they have a strong foundation in healthcare, including medical knowledge, ethics, and patient-centered care, which they integrate into their psychotherapeutic practice.
